What is Jungian analysis?
C.G. Jung was convinced that there was a drive to wholeness in the human psyche, an
autonomous, powerful "principle which strives for total realization".
An analysis must be aligned with this drive in the unconscious.
As we know, the unconscious IS unconscious!!
How, then, do we work with this paradox?
There are ways in which the unconscious makes itself known.
The most immediate and accessible of these is through dreams. As we attend to
our nightly dreams, and begin to become familiar with the motifs and images
coming to us in the night, we discover a marvellous healing capacity within the psyche.
In an analytic session, we explore the dreams, pondering the mysterious images,
and investigating the relationship between the dream message and the events of our daily
lives. In this way, the unconscious realm of the archetypes enriches and enlivens
our everyday journey, and points us toward a greater awareness of our personal destiny.
We are able to navigate the stormy seas of our lives with greater equanimity as
we bring into our everyday consciousness these aspects of ourselves which have been
neglected or forgotten in the passage of time.
